Pay it Forward ~

I love my hometown little flea market. It is the only place where I truly find gems in the rough.  Though certainly not grand or chic or artsy at all. Actually, its kind of dumpy and Mr. Vintage makes me call him when I arrive and leave because he thinks it's a bit dicey and some of the characters a tad surley.

A year or so ago, I would have had to agree. But now, I just love it. I am heading out there shortly, middle child in tow (future American Picker - its his favorite show) to see what goodies I may have missed last week. Today, I know many of the vendors by first names. Sometimes if I catch a gem on my way out after my cash supply has been depleted, the let me "slide" till next week. Can you imagine? Who does that these days? Also, today I am going with a mission in mind. I purchased this lovely Dom Perignon chiller bucket from an older woman, who by the look of it, may be living out of her car with 2 cats. At the time - I really did not want to spend the $$ she was asking for it. Honestly, I didn't think much of it, it wasn't really what I usually go for. But I had found nothing else that day and decided I would rather not go home empty handed - so I talked her down $20 and bought it.  Well, needless to say, when I got home and did my research, it was worth a WHOLE lot more than what she was took. Of course it sold right away for a more accurate price. Therefore, today I am returning and hope she is there (she is always there) I am giving her the extra $20 - plus some  items I hope she can use to sell. I am not a big textile person, but that seems to be her specialty and I have lots gathering dust. So I am giving it to her. Maybe somewhere in the overflowing bag, there is a lace tablecloth made by Betsy Ross that is worth a fortune ~ I hope so.

BIG NEWS!!!! and an experiment

French Bleu Vintage is having a SALE!!! But not just any sale. This sale is  for Blogger readers only. You see, its more of an experiment in how my fantastic customers find French Bleu Vintage, than just a sale.

Without getting wordy ~ this is how it works: Simply click on the FrenchbleuVintage Shop link on my sidebar and have a look~see around. If there is something you want to purchase...great,  go ahead and purchase the regular way. You will not see a SALE price or a discount. You would need to email me or comment on my blog after your purchase and let me know that you made a purchase (please clue me in as to what you purchased, because sometimes Blogger names are not the same as shipping names). I will then stick a nice crisp $10 bill in with every order of $50 or $20 in with a $100.00 sale. Get it?? Its really quite simple.
Yes, all items are applicable (even in the Super Sale dept.)  Feel free to ask any other questions. But Please hurry, this Sale ends August 25th.

As Promised ~ drumroll pleeez

Check out this booty (mind out of the gutter please). I mean all this crazy great awesome flea market goodness that I picked up in Cape Cod last week. I also had the wonderful fortune of finding a French Estate Sale. A lovely woman who has lived on the Cape for 66 years and came to the US when she was 12 years old from France. She traveled the world several times over and had the most interesting items for sale.  I am putting most of these items in my FBV shop tonight if I get a breather ~ I hope you enjoy the photos as much as I enjoyed the sales.

I LOVE a good party and these 2 are fabulous ~

Washstand Makeover for WW

I remember it like it was yesterday....My BBB (Best Brimfield Buddy:) Denise and I had walked all over the Brimfield Flea for hours. Picking up small treasures here & there. I loathe carrying large items around with me ~ little red wagons be damned! Anyway, we were on our way out ~ but "whats this?" still cash in my pocket ~ blasphemy!! I had spotted this rusty, once ivory tone beauty when I first walked in and commented on how pretty. If I had $$ on my return, I'd get it. And YEHAW ~ there she was. A little banged up but certainly no worse for the wear....(I'm holding back on the slightly off color jokes so easily placeable here).

Flash forward a few years ~ there she sits, alone, cold, not pretty anymore in my basement gathering cobwebs and more rust. Well, as he sometimes does, on not nearly enough occasions, Mr. Vintage, decided to surprise me. He gave her a complete body makeover, sandblasted, some welding and a fresh coat of eye blinding WHITE PAINT!!!  Doesn't she just look great? Thanks honey :)

And they all lived Happily Ever After ~

I love a good party (isn't it obvious;)

Livin' The Dream....well not quite

Mayflower Beach, Cape Cod ~ Ma. @ sunset
I'm back and it was wicked fun on Cape Cod. The weather could not have been any better. The beaches were sooo nice and the Lobsta...don't get me started:) A neighbor of mine has this great little cottage in Dennis that she just started renting - it is so cute, like a dollhouse. Do you all do this or am I the only crazy? After I have had time to soak in the place I am renting - usually by bedtime - In my mind, I start to redecorate and remodel it with everything I own. Well, I went to town on this adorable cottage. All the great pieces I have that just don't "fit" in my traditional colonial ~ look perfect. By the time we were packing up for home - I had completely convinced myself that I need a cottage somewhere on the shore, just to put all my stuff. Those rustic outdoor showers - perfect for a new metal washstand that Mr. Vintage just had sandblasted and re-painted sparkling white for me (White Wednesdays post for sure).

It was seriously a great week ~ The kids skim boarded with Sea Lions (scared the $%&! out of me) the 2 year old monster (I mean my daughter:) fell asleep early every night - too tired to even hear a bedtime story, great weather and a sweet house. We hardly ate at restaurants at all- it was not easy to get everyone off the beach by a decent hour, so we just picked up fresh seafood  from the local markets and cooked at the house and went back to the beach to celebrate the glorious sunsets.

I am saving the best part of this getaway for last: Shopping!!!!! Oh no, I didn't even walk into one cute little gift shop or boutique. I headed straight for the outdoor Flea Market - YEHAW!!! At first I was worried because it wasn't the kind of Flea I was used to - everything was brand new - loads of bright shiny plastic bric a brac. But luckily, son #2 found the one vendor tent that had some great old junque. Next, I hunted down an Estate Sale by a French woman transplanted to The Cape 66 years ago. Her home was weeellll off the beaten path and lucky for me, only a handful of others found her amazing home. I will list some of the items in my FBV shop later. I am way behind on listing new stuff but it'll get there this week.

Just wanted to say "Hi' to everyone ~ I seriously did miss Blogland. No Wi-Fi at the cottage - that was about the only downside (that and a few LARGE spiders in the shower).  Check back on White Wednesday's post for some of the really nice Vintage pieces I was lucky enough to score.

p.s ~ I'm ready, when does school start????

Multi~tasking @ FBV

I am heading over to Cape Cod for a few days so I'm doing all my party linking in this one post. I guess I can multi-task after all :)

For White Wednesday ~ I can feel myself sliding into a somewhat more autumn mode of styling. I recently picked up these very cool vintage German stoneware wine bottles at the flea. I can already picture them with bittersweet branches decorating them on a mantel. Also, a bit of Summer still left with this pretty necklace I picked up in Brimfield last May.

Vintage Black Friday ~ I have missed you. I am so glad to jump in on this party again with these 2 super nice metal items. The first is a tissue holder. Its not just any tissue holder, this one can hang on the wall and the top slides off. The hand painted flowers are ok, but I would have been just as happy (happier even) if it was all black.  Also, this neat tin box is called a Silent Butler. It was used by a hostess to clean up table crumbs, ashtrays, etc as she flitted about her room after guests. Oh yes, I can just picture myself doing that.

Flea Market Friday ~ Just love this new party........Hi Kecia!

Silver Sunday is showing these awesome display items that I picked up at the Overstocks shop. Aren't they pretty. Look at all the all shiny prisms and the rosettes ~ I just love them. I have yet to list them at the shop ~ but thats where they are heading ~ no Im not crazy ~ I bought a set for myself as well. I'm already looking forward to using them for Halloween table decorating ~ think black candles and cupcakes!

Please check out all these Super Fun & Fabulous Parties and say HI to the wonderfully creative gals that host them. The links are all located on my sidebar ~ Have a great week everyone. I hope to have some nice beachy photos to post next week ~ pray it doesn't rain or I'll be stuck in a 2 bedroom cottage with 3 winey kids and a stinky wet German Shepherd.
