The Perfect Day ~

The perfect day to receive this perfect gift from my BFF Denise. Its been pretty heavily raining here in CT for about 3 days now. Which is fine because we need it.  And I do love good rainy sleeping weather. When I woke up this morning it was soooo dark, humid, pouring rain and spooky.....my kind of day.  I knew instantly what Roro (2.5 year old daughter that gives me grief about everything) and I were going to do today. Get out the Halloween decorations and start spookin' up the joint.  Then make some cupcakes, a walk in the rain and maybe a Dora Halloween DVD.

Well, a few hours later, its still really windy and spooky outside ~ I mailed out some orders ~ put up a few decorations (Rowan lost interest after the bouncy spider) the cupcakes will wait till brothers come home from school ~ we did take a walk outside the blustery streets with our umbrellas, which I have to say was pretty fun. But the BEST, and I mean the BEST part of my day was opening my mailbox and seeing the familiar writing on a package for me. Denise and I shared some pretty fun Holidays together - but Halloween was our favorite. She pulls off a mean Queen Maab (sp?) by the way. Since she has up and moved to Montana, we correspond often and send/receive many small gifts throughout the year.  Just take a look at these great ATC's she made for me. As well as an amazing person ~Denise is an accomplished paper artist and when she has time, she makes amazing paper crafts for FrenchBleuVintage.com. I begged her to make more of the Holiday Tag Cards that she made last year and she did. I'll put them in the "Papier" and "seasonal" section very soon. At this time, I only have 4 sets (she is wicked busy these days) so if you are interested, shoot me an email before they even get to the shop. I just love my ATC's and may be able to grovel and beg for her to make a few for the shop ~ you can never have too many ATC's. She also made these super cool banners which I need to take better photos of: SPOOKY & MAGIC , also on sale at the shop.

Thank you Denise - your gift made my day just a wee bit more spooky. And you know how I love spooky.

White Vintage Vases

Vintage McCoy Cornucopia
I just realized how many white vases I have. Im not even showing half of them. I love them all and most are for sale but a few I have selfishly kept for myself. Lately I have been finding some great McCoy pieces at my Flea. Same vendor too. I know he knows how much they may be worth, but he always gives me such a great discount, I can't pass them up.
This broken oil lamp is my keeper ~ check out its rusty base
Very tall and rare hourglass shaped McCoy
Im too lazy to run upstairs and get the name - but I know it was good (pathetic)

I know its pink (just seeing if your still awake)

This last piece is so sweet, I had to include it. Shabby doesn't even begin to describe it. Not a repro. Has some very faded makers mark on the bottom plus its beginning to craze a little on the bottom. Its really too shallow to be a vase and almost too small to be a bowl or candy dish. To me, it looks like a fingertip bowl, but I don't think it is. If you have any clues, please fill me in. Now I just got my November copy of Romantic Homes today (Yipee - it don't take much to make me happy these days) so I really must beg off to dreamland for some inspiration.

Also, please check out my prior post for a great Giveaway

Well, that concludes this White Wednesday's  stroll through the company store ~ Please swing by Faded Charm and say Hi to Kathleen and all the other lovely participants.

Merci ~

THE BIG 200!!! Giveaway

Im so hi-strung, I need a few of these

Actually, I never thought I would get here ~ 200 Followers? Really? You are all waaaayyy too kind. But seriously, why are you here? I can't possibly be writing anything thats all that fascinating (my life is extremely flatlining) Which brings me to the conclusion....its my "Stuff". And I am very pleased with that epiphany because its what I do - its what I love. I totally enjoy finding  really cool stuff to show and tell to all you wonderful followers. It makes me so  happy to do it and know that I am not the only one that actually likes it.
Love these LED "Flameless" candles
Therefore ~ lets bring 200 followers in with a BANG! I am going to part with a few of my very favorite things. Because I think your fun comments and continued loyalty totally deserves it.

Lovely dragonfly in ceiling~tin frame
So in order to be in the running to win one of these lovelies -  leave a comment. I am waaay to busy for complicated rules. Simply leave a comment - a suggestion - a compliment (always nice:) - whatever you  like and of course, be a follower. Then, I will let Pearce (my statisically inclined middle child) pick 3 numbers next Monday - so you have a whole week. I wish I could bestow 200 lovely gifts upon you all ~ but then I'd be outta business:) So I hope a great big Thank You will suffice.

Merci ~

Practical Magic Blog Party ~ Spellbook

My Favorite Book of Spells
This book is a must for anyone who has ever tinkered with Natural Magic. And by "Natural",  I mean magic that is kind, never harmful and full of great love and appreciation for the Earth Mother.  I have had this book for over a decade and it never fails to inspire me.

As far as spells go ~ inside it speaks on everything from Healing Magic (lots of honey) to An Apple Love Spell. Since this is apple season ~ here ya go:

~ A genuine old charm:  Pick your apple when the moon has waned three days. Breathe upon its green cheek, rub it with a scarlet cloth and say: "Fire sweet and fire red warm the heart and turn the head".
Kiss the red half, put it in anothers hand. Who holds it shall weaken, who eats it shall be yours.

But remember ~ use with caution. Remember what happened in the movie?

And if the apple spell doesn't work...
Love potion #31 will
Huge Thank You to La Boheme Magique & Frosted Petunias for hosting such a fun party. Please visit all the other participants through the Practical Magic Party link @ sidebar ~  Dee xo

FrenchBleuVintage~Photos

I came upon this huge cache of Vintage Cabinet Photos and assorted ephemera last weekend at "The Flea". They are stunning! I cannot imagine how or why the ended up in a dusty cardboard box. Obviously, these were photos taken of important events, milestones moments in the lives of these people.

Check out the clothing, the hairstyles, the expressions (or lack thereof) on their faces. Aren't they amazing? Okay, some are even spooky. My favorite is the little boy kissing his Mom. I would never let that photo get away from me if I were that Mom.

I bought the  whole box. I toyed with the idea of collage art, but dismissed it at the thought of cutting into them ~ they are too perfect. If I didn't have my own vintage family photos, I would put these in frames and give myself an instant vintage family.

Happy Autumn and have a great week everyone~

French Bleu Vintage Tins

I admit it. I am not proud of the fact that I am an inch away from being a hoarder. I just realized that between The Brimfield and my Hometown Flea this week, I brought home no fewer than 6 new (old) tins (maybe more:) This green one is my favorite.

Also, from Brimfield, this lovely sepia toned pastoral and this very cool Frenchbleu handpainted something box. Its really pretty and has 3 compartments inside for something, Im not sure what, maybe cards or cigarettes....anyone....

This lot was a steal but really, how many button/sewing boxes does one need? I think I may just be going through a metal phase. Tole Trays are finding their way into my heart as well and this one is amazing (and huge).
Linking with Kathleen at Faded Charm for White Wednesday. Not much white really but I am wicked tired and lazy this week.

Brimfield Goodness

Having a great time in Brimfield
What a great day for The Brimfield Flea Market. Not too hot with a nice breeze ~ great parking spot ~ not crowded ~ awesome food. I think I liked going in September better than May. I got some really cool things, but alas, none white.  Here are a few photos from Brimfield of some really nice vendor tents that I think I could live in happily.
something great everywhere I looked
Some dreamy white pitchers
and check out this chippy pink stool (and lovin' that pair of frogs)

Summer Dwindles Down

Well, I guess it had to happen ~ Summer is coming to an end. But, for a few very short weeks, we get the best of both worlds. Gone is the intense humidity, frantic vacation plans, camp schedules, etc. Instead, we gain Summer's gorgeous warmth, backyard BBQ's (less bugs), campfires, swimming at the lake, weekend morning at the Farmers Markets  (and lets not forget the fact that the kids are back in school:) For me, one of the best things about this time of year is my PeeGee Hydrangea Tree. It never fails to make me swoon first thing inthe morning, pressing at my windows. The bees just love it ~ it literally humms all September. Even the garden spider enjoys its leafy canopy and heavy bobbing blossoms. Which sometimes makes for a surprising bouquet.

After shaking out the squatters, I bundle them up and dry them in any receptical worthy of their beauty. They fill most rooms in my house. This particular lovely vase, is actually a broken oil lamp.  I fell in love with its milk glass and rusty iron base, hiding in a cardboard box at (where else) yes, the flea.

Enjoy these last few fleeting days of Summer. Before you know it, you'll be arguing over who's "doing Christmas" this year.

Joining Faded Charm once again for White Wednesday.
