Holiday Paper Whites

For this weeks White Wednesday, Im glad I can finally get into the Holiday spirit ~
I just love these wonderful Holiday tag cards and banners. The artist is my very wonderful and talented friend, Denise Morrison. She made these exclusively for FrenchBleuVintage.com  and they are fabulous.  I put in the most basic request and what she creates never fails to amaze me. Thank you Denise.

The Holidays are finally here and we are all in full decorating mode. December 1st is my official start  day for decorating and not a day before ~ so I am off to rummage through countless boxes in the basement and deck my halls. Happy White Wednesday Everyone ~ please swing by Faded Charm and check out all the other WW posts.

Why does it take so long.....

Cleaning any room in my house takes fooorrreevvveeerr. Why? Because of all the llittle things that need to be picked up carefully, dusted, polished and/or windexed and put back in the right spot. That is unless you are in a creative mood (and when am I not?) Then I have to change everything around. The table that housed the gorgeous lamp and bar for several years undisturbed, has now lost its rights to the corner. Time for a change of vignette. Poor Mr. Vintage comes home from a long day - walks to the table for his favorite glass and a nip, only to find it has been re-assigned to aother room.

This chair absolutely had to be put somewhere where it would be noticed
I just think its hysterical (especially because I know many of you do it as well) that you can take apart a completely useful corner of a room just to put up something that simply appeals to your eye at the moment. It has no purpose or usefullness - it just "feels right".
These are just a few of the items that have found new temporary living condition until a I have another cleaning frenzy and wonder...."why did I move this in the first place?"

Gorgeous Ironstone bowl that I walked around with for 20 minutes trying to find its "home"

I moved the bar just for this one piece ~ its a holy water holder I found at a flea
                        Happy Thanksgiving Everyone

Wait for meeeee.....

Oh my Gosh ~ What am I thinking???? I almost missed my favorite party ~ Silver  Sunday. Its very late so I'll make this a quickie. Hey, I mean the post.  I picked up this lovely set of quadruple plate silver from where else - The Goodwill. They simply have the best silver sometimes. Its hit or miss really - but lately, Ive been hittin'. Isn't it pretty? The set consists of the teapot, creamer and sugar. Plus I also picked up a super cute monogrammed pitcher of some sort ~ it may be a gravy holder, not sure.

Im not familiar with the history of quadruple plate - but do plan on looking into it a bit more. Its very different from other silvers, the ornate patterns etc. I did pick up a few other lovelies since the last Silver Sunday. This amazing "Ella" napkin ring and pretty silverplate serving tray.
Okay - Im off to link up before it closes. Please check out all the other fantastic Silver Sunday entries hosted by Gypsy Fish ~ link is at Sidebar.

Lots to do.....

This is where I hide my stash of Hershey Kisses
And I'd better start in the dining room. Since deciding that we will play host to about 15 this Thanksgiving and Im pretty sure we're going to need the table and chairs, I should really try and clear a path. Like many of you, my dining room serves a multitude of purposes for me. Its mostly my packaging area for getting my orders out. On a good day, when the table is clear, it can seat 10. Therefore, its very enticing to bring in any new found treasure, lay them out, clean or repair them and photograph them right there. And yes, sometimes items manage to hang out there for a few days (much to the dislike of Mr. Grumpy Vintage:)

So tonight I started clearing out the room and putting items in their proper place ~ when low and behold ~ lots of white stuff to clean in here. The obvious choice for a White Wednesday post as long as Im cleaning it anyway, right.
I bought this cute little desk at a fundraising tag sale 2 months ago for $20. It has been shoved in the front foyer because I couldn't figure out where to put it. I didn't want it in the formal living room - but I did anyway, and love it. It really breaks up all the shiny dark mahogany. I was actually going to sand and re-paint. Nope - love it just the way it is now (or maybe Im just lazy)

My dining room hutch is filled with lots of lovely white ironstone platters, pitchers and bowls ~ that all needed a thorough cleaning ~ why do I not lean towards the "less is more" style? Well, its done now and looks decent, except for the burn ring under my favorite Paris tea set (which I will just move the teapot on top of).
I feel better now. The dining room is spotless, my items are all put away in the storage room, and Mr. Grumpy Vintage has his table back.

Holiday inspiration by JdL

I am LOVING the Holiday issue of Jeanne d'Arc Living. If you haven't ordered a copy yet ~ give yourself an early gift. You will not be dissappointed. I ordered mine from the lovely Carole, from Maynard Greenhouse (thank you thank you thank you Carole).
I just love these little belljar vignettes
I really would love to implement many of the ideas in the magazine in my home for this quickly approaching Holiday Season. And the beauty of it is, you can start doing it today, little by little. Not all in one mad pathetic rush 6 hours after you eat your Thanksgiving turkey. Its not all red and green that you want to rip down the day after Christmas either. Once you see the photos, you'll understand why. Its clean , lots of white of course, natural woods and pines, worn in, homey, divine. Everything that the Holidays should be.
sorry - can't figure out how to make landscape - duh
I've been a bit under the weather since my stint in the cemetary on Halloween, but I tell ya, as soon as I kick this bug, I am off like a prom dress to try and bring some of those aweome pages into my home. I gathered some items from FrenchBleuVintage.com and am taking some baby steps already.
