Note to self ~ get a carriage first

I am in shock and awe at what some people get rid of. I work a few days a week about an hours drive from my home. There is a Goodwill in town, but I never usually go there. They tend to price things waaay too high for this girl. But I had an hour to kill waiting out a bad rainstorm so off I went. At first walk around, I didn't see much and was starting to think I should have walked around Pottery Barn instead. Then I went back to the glassware aisle, and there, on the end was this magnificent set. Once I noticed it, I felt the eyes upon me. I seriously wanted to scoop it all up in my arms and scream "MINE MINE MINE....its all MINE" Im really not sure, I may have said it out loud. I only heard the blood rushing through my ears at that point. Then the adrenalin kicked in. My predicament was, I had no carriage. Why oh why do I do that - you know your going to find stuff, why don't you just get a d@#$ carriage. I took a few pieces with me, jumped a few feet away for a carriage - and the vultures descended. I must have given the poor woman the most absolute look of disgust - but she did not give a hoot. She grabbed the 4 coffee mugs and shrugged her shoulders as if to say "shoulda got a carriage first". I grabbed everything else on the shelf and didn't look back.

I seriously hope my customers appreciate the trouble I get myself into finding perfect items to sell in Frenchbleu Vintage. I swear, I know its gonna come to Fist to Cuffs someday. Probably over some white chippy vase or frame. But don't worry, Im scrappy - I'll win. Im linking up with  Show & Tell Friday at My Romantic Home, please check out the other fabulous posts (Link @ sidebar) Also with White Wednesday. Swing on by Faded Charm and get your fill of super white goodness (link on sidebar).

  3. Wonderful finds. I find that every time I get a cart, I do not find anything. Every time I don't, I find more than I can carry. What is up with that? Great post!!!

  5. Beautiful set! They would be gorgeous just as a white set but the crown motif just kicks it up into super lovely. Sorry about the coffee cups, but you still got away with the best pieces.

  8. LOL! How neat is that find. I once wrote on a blog that I might knock someone over for an item they showed. Just channeling Lois again. Hey a good find is a good find! I really was a quite and shy young lady. Mom said I would stand in line at McDonalds and let 5 people get ahead of me. It has been something about raising those boys....

  9. Truly gorgeous... I would have gotten it too! I'm curious to know how much did you pay for it? ;)

  11. Girl...you sound just like me.
I never get a carriage and I always find something I want at the Goodwill. That's why my husband refuses to go there with me anymore, cuz I will load him up too...

  12. Wow! I love your finds! I never see great stuff like that at the GoodWill shops around here! I think I would have had to knock that lady over who took "your" mugs! Or else had a few words with her in the parking lot!

  13. Dee -

You see this is why we SHOULD go treasure hunting together! You could have run for the cart while I stood guard with my pepper spray warning: BACK OFF SISTER! I'M NOT AFRAID TO USE THIS!
We could start a new link party as well:
    Fist-to-Cuff Fridays!

    Great finds!

  41. Hey girl!
    You are too funny!
I can get pretty scrappy at that place too!
Monday I went in to look for a couple of dictionaries and ended up in the dishes as well. I pretty much grabbed a vase right in front of a lady.
(She was just standing there...not picking anything up!)
She glared at me...If you want it...grab it!
    At least at goodwill.
Warning: I don't know if this scrappyiness applies at other stores!
    Have a wonderful day!
And by the way...these were totally worth getting grabby over!
    Blessings,
    Donna
