FrenchBleuVintage~Photos

I came upon this huge cache of Vintage Cabinet Photos and assorted ephemera last weekend at "The Flea". They are stunning! I cannot imagine how or why the ended up in a dusty cardboard box. Obviously, these were photos taken of important events, milestones moments in the lives of these people.

Check out the clothing, the hairstyles, the expressions (or lack thereof) on their faces. Aren't they amazing? Okay, some are even spooky. My favorite is the little boy kissing his Mom. I would never let that photo get away from me if I were that Mom.

I bought the  whole box. I toyed with the idea of collage art, but dismissed it at the thought of cutting into them ~ they are too perfect. If I didn't have my own vintage family photos, I would put these in frames and give myself an instant vintage family.

Happy Autumn and have a great week everyone~

  2. Wow! That's an amazing find (and yes - kinda spooky too!)They look in such perfect condition. It reminds me of the beginning of a film or a novel - what a mystery - it would be great to find out who they were! Love your blog by the way - a new discovery for me. xx

  5. I always feel a little bit of sadness at the thought that these photos were cast away. It does make you wonder why no one kept them. I have them all over the house....I think it drive my husband crazy but I tell him it's my extended family.
At least people like us are loving them now!

  6. That's a wonderful find. I always wonder how these photos get separated from family too. I guess some people aren't as sentimental and don't pass things down through the generations. They are great photos.

  8. What wonderful photos - I love how you've displayed them on the B&W toile. I always wonder about how photos like this came to be discarded too. It's very sad to think about how someone's memories can wind up this way. I recently "rescued" an old black & white of the sweetest looking little dog (you can see her in my post Simple as Black and White.) She now has a new home on the photo wall in my office.....And btw...thank you for visiting my blog and the comment you left. Happy WW to you! Sheilla

  10. It never ceases to amaze me how easily some can part with vital pieces of their history! I could never do that, but then I am sentimental to a fault! lol

  12. Hi Dee,

What a wonderful find. They really are perfect for collage and mixed media...just scan them and print out copies to use in your artwork. Then the originals are always protected. That's what I do with my collection.

I'm visiting for White Wednesday. I'd love for you to pop in for a visit. :0)

    Happy Day to You,
    Stephanie ♥

  19. These really ARE unique and gorgeous. It really IS sad to think that there might not be anyone left in a family, or maybe that these were in an estate sale. What a wonderful find. Thanks so much, Dee, for joining in VIF,
