Happy Memorial Day

Aaah the un-official start of Summer. Its been a beautiful sunny few days here in CT (I don't say that very often) So here are just a few shots of the "garden of weedin'" while it still looks decent. I have been working on out there like a dog lately.

Enjoy your long weekend everyone and take a few moments to remember why we celebrate it.

WHITE SEASHELLS@FrenchBleuVintage

The Man and I took the kids to Ocean Island, North Carolina last month. I loved it SO much and would love to get in the car this morning and not stop until I reached its sandy shore again. We seriously did nothing on this particular vaca. Usually I hunt down every Civil War monument and battlefield and bore them all to tears. I just needed to kick back this time. A huge portion of our days were spent collecting sea glass and shells. I just loved having this be the biggest decision of the day - "what type of shell to look for today". I wasn't sure exactly sure where I would put them all - we took home a ton. The car trunk smelled a tad fishy for awhile:) Anyway - I just love the way they look in my old enamel bowls. I picked up the fabulous 3-tier very crusty stand there as well. How refreshing that it can hang outside and not have to worry about getting rusty:)

Make room for more "Stuff" @ FBVintage

I'm in trouble. I'm 44 years old and STILL getting in "Trouble". My husband doesn't ask for that much. But what he asks for, I'm still not really willing to give. "Please, Dee, stop bringing home "stuff". We have no more room. "But, its my business" says I ~ its what I do. I find it, buy it, clean it, paint it, fix it, whatever ~ then sell it. I don't mention that I love it ~ it calls to me ~ practically jumps out of some forgotten cardboard box under a dusty table at a FleaMarket and into my open arms. He would call the men in the padded truck for sure if he knew. I am so jealous of you lucky ladies who have those fantastic "partners in Flea Market crime" for husbands. Mine just doesn't "get it". I know everyone reading this blog "gets it" and I wish you could explain it to him. I'm sure you would do a much better job at it than I do. I just shrug my shoulders and say..."sorry, but isn't it great!!!!" These lovely crates ~ he saw as "junk" and not the good kind, (spelled "Junque" BTW) how could he not see a perfectly lovely unique wine rack. Pottery Barn would sell this for $250!!

Oh well, enough ranting. Thanks for letting me vent. I picked up a bunch of these white enamel tubs and a few more crates ~ which much to my husbands glee ~ will be available at FrenchbleuVintage by this weekend.

Thanks to Kathleen for hosting another fun White Wednesday over at Faded Charm ~ Check it out. Its so much cheaper than therapy or a good marriage counselor :)

Well, at least I got there....

So after a year of waiting, I finally made it to Brimfield. I swear, that place never gets old to me. I love it. The stuff, the food, the people, the port-o-lets. I love it so much, I think it's on my list of places to haunt once I'm gone. The traffic getting in was MUCH worse than in years past. I chalk it up to bad weather on the other days and Thursday being the most gorgeous day of the week. I went with my friend, Carolyn, she had never been. A Flea Market Virgin - truth be known. I have ruined her. We found the best place to park - $3 all day, and actual indoor bathrooms on premises.

Honestly, it is such sensory overload - I can't commit to buying anything for at least 2 hours after arriving. Unfortunately, we could not stay long - just 7 short hours. But we did okay. The FMV walked away with a great deal on a sweet buffet. I only bought a few smaller items, for me, its really just the experience of going and meeting new people ~ I just wish I would have made better plans to meet up with some of you. The time flew by so fast and we didn't get to see a quarter of the place. I can only liken it to being 8 years old again on Christmas morning ~ less my footie PJ's.....although I'll keep that in mind for next time.

If you were lucky enough to get to Brimfield this week, let me know what you picked up. I'll try and post some more photos later (I brought the camera - just didn't stop enough to take any good photos).

Have a great weekend ~ Dee xo

Whoa~ Almost missed it

I was so bummed out that I missed the Brimfield Flea Market today ~ that I almost missed "White Wednesday " as well. Wicked Double Tragedy. I didn't really pull anything aside for this so I am using a few random shots. Of course, I love my little demi-lune table that my sister gave me. So cute and already shabby-white when she bestowed it. And looky what I found at my local Flea on Mothers Day ~ I LOOVVEE it!! Its a vintage nursery scale complete with perfect wicker basket. I think it was white once a loooong time ago. But I'm not touching it. I swear people around here have no clue what things should cost. This piece would have been priceless to me. In fact I prefaced asking the vendor for its price by saying "I know its waaay out of my price range today, but" and when she told me the price, I actually said "REALLY??? start the car - start the car" paid, grabbed it and ran as fast as my weak knees could carry me back to my truck. I wish I recorded it somehow. Alas, no one could attest to the fact that as I stowed it safely in the pickup, I looked around to make sure no one was casing my stash. Crazy I know but I couldn't help it...

Okay, trying Brimfield again tomorrow - if anyone else is going - give me a shout out. I would love to meet some of you wonderful girls. Its freezing and raining here today - not good flea weather. I don't care what anyone says - if I ain't comfortable, it ain't happenin' for me. So Thursday it is....I hope. Please swing on by Faded Charm and check out all the other WW posts ~ you'll be glad you did.

Happy Mothers Silver Sunday ~ from FBVintage

It was never an issue as to what photos I would post for this edition of Silver Sunday. I have an entire secretary devoted to photos of family, past and present, all decked out in silver frames. There are Moms, Grandmoms, Great-Grandma's and Great~Aunts and One special Heavenly Mother, always present. Some in Wedding Day dresses, some in costumes, some with favorite pets, all beautiful. I know the stories to each of these photos as if I was there celebrating the special times with them. Most of these wonderful women are long gone and deeply missed. I can only hope that one day, my photo will be included in this collection, when my own children, all grown up, showcase their family history.

Many thanks to Beth @ Gypsy Fish (link @ sidebar) for hosting this Special Silver Sunday and giving us all the opportunity to showcase that which we all hold dear. Please check out all the other amazing posts.

A Very Blessed and Happy Mothers Day to each and every one of you ~

VBF ~ brought to you by The Goodwill

Do you remember when people would NEVER admit they bought something at The Goodwill? I am not proud. I will scream it from the rooftop ~ I LOVE THE GOODWILL! I have scored so many fabulous items there. Its a seriously good time. I have even seen local college boys looking for vintage clothing on Friday nights there (ok - thats kind of sad, but true). Sometimes, I will check out the stemware and see something we used to own when I was little - a cookie jar, martini glasses, hideous plates. Its hard to not make the same mistake twice - but usually I'll walk out with new treasures of my own style.

This Vintage Connecticut Tourist tray by Nashco is a super kitchy find as are the California tourist spot glasses ~ seriously, one of the glasses boasts, home of "The Largest Outdoor Organ". You can't find this stuff at MACY's

Please swing by The French Cupboard and check out the other fabulous Vintage Black Friday posts.

Lily of the Valley Whites @ FrenchbleuVintage

The flower of May is Lily of The Valley. I have always loved its light and sweet fragrance. To me, it personifies Spring. In French it is called Muguet (Lily of the Valley sounds much nicer in my book). For some reason, I cannot get it to grow in my garden. Everyone else in the world says it grows in their gardens like weeds....of course it does. But when one can't grow something - go out and buy it, I say. This is my latest and most fantastic Flea Treasure. I bought a HUGE set of this vintage dinnerware made by Royal China, last weekend. Isn't it gorgeous? I wish I could keep it - but my ever growing stock of "stuff" and slim kitchen storage keeps me from owning it forever.

As with everything else ~ it is available at FrenchBleuVintage. Please swing by (link at sidebar for both) after visiting Kathleen at Faded Charm and checking out all the other great White Wednesday Posts. Have a perfectly lovely White Wednesday. The countdown to the Brimfield Flea Market continues, anyone out there making plans to go yet??
