Lazy Silver Sunday #5~~~

I am so glad we're continuing this party. Thanks Beth! Please visit Beth and all the other fabulous Silver Sunday posts over at Gypsy Fish. This week I am simply featuring some lovely vintage pieces from around the house and my shop. Does anyone know what the item is in the 3rd photo down? I sold it in my shop last week and the buyer didn't know either~but she loved it enough to give it a new home anyway. I thought probably some sort of vase as it has an inner glass tube. But why not just the mercury glass vase? Why an inner glass tube? I would be thrilled if someone could shed some light on its origin. I've been nursing a nasty headcold the better part of a week and can't seem to gather the steam (or clarity) to go out and muster up something utterly amazing this week. But I still think they're pretty nice, plus I couldn't bear missing a week. Enjoy~

Welcome Wonderful White Wednesdayer's

Its no secret that I love white. But I never noticed how much of it I have around the house until I started this post. YIPES! I think I may need to add a little color here and there. These are just some random shots around mi casa.

I also took a few photos of some of a few neat items @ French Bleu Vintage ~ Entirely different hues here. These are the muted creamy whites I love.

Please swing by and say hello to our WW host ~ Kathleen over @ Faded Charm ~ she has a fabulous transferware post this week.

~~~~Childs Silver Tea Set & Silver Cake stand~~~~~~~~~~
~~~~~~~Vintage Heart Candy Molds~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Happy 4th Silver Sunday everyone!!! I didn't really have a lot of time for the SS Post this week so I didn't have any nice photos of all my great silver stuff around the house. However, I am never at a complete loss. I have listed a few of my favorite silver pieces past & present from FrenchBleuVintage. Come to think of it ~ this has been such a hectic week, I should have just taken some photos of my (honestly, its more white than silver) hair. Please checkout the rest of the Silver Sunday blogs over @ Gypsy Fish and say "hi" to Beth.

Have a great week everyone~

Welcome to my White Wednesday

I know you were probably expecting some wonderful Vintage Shabby vignettes ~ but really, I couldn't resist. Say hello to my little friend; Chesca (named after our favorite restaurant on Marthas Vineyard). She is a 5 year old purebred White German Shepherd. We got her from the German Shepherd rescue about 4 years ago. She was found wandering the streets of Virginia, the rescue took her in, put her adorable face on the web and the rest is history. They drove her all the way to CT so we could check each other out. She never left. Just look at that face - who could refuse that nose. She is the best watch dog ever and waaayy too smart for her own good.

A great big Thank You to Kathleen over at Faded Charm for hosting White Wednesdays.

Tempus Fugit~ Silver Sunday #3 ~

Please visit our Host for this 3rd Silver Sunday ~ Beth over at Gypsy Fish and check out all her Silver Goodness.

Has it really been 7 days since my first Silver Sunday? Time is flying by lately. Which is probably exactly what my silver pieces would be saying if they could, in fact, speak. I have a few items that have been around since at least the 1800's, I'm sure. The small bowl pictured, was found at the bottom of a dirt floor in an outhouse in my old backyard about 25 years ago. I was an amateur archaeologist then. Our family house was about 250 years old and we were always finding super old stuff. I was so crazy about un-earthing lost treasures that I dug out and pulled a brick out of the huge fireplace because I was sure that there was a secret room behind it. And guess what - there was!!! Legend has it there is a door in the floor of that room that leads to a tunnel which would take you 100 yards to the barn. Possibly part of the underground railroad. Never really found out ~ it was too unstable and dangerous to pursue plus the house was too haunted for me (my family didn't mind it though) and I moved out on my own. Thus forgetting about the secrets. Thankfully, I never lost my taste for the old and tarnished.

YIPEEE!!! Its Silver Sunday

Welcome to my first Silver Sunday Blog. A big Thanks to Beth over at Gypsy Fish for hosting ~ great job. I had a heck of a time trying to figure out how to get here (thanks again Denise) but I'm here. Most of these are simply photos of my ever growing obsessions: Mercury glass, old family photos etc. I am seriously running low on available table space in my home - little vignettes have taken over most of the flat surfaces.

No time for a long blog today. Its my son, Pearson's, 8th birthday and we have a full day of fun planned. The Children's Science Museum first - followed by a toy spree in Target (not really, I just let him pick a few things and don't voice my usual concerns) followed by the obligatory 8 year olds lunch at Rainforest Cafe. Then home for cake and a singing phone call to our favorite co-birthday celebrator~ HAPPY BIRTHDAY PEARSON & BILL!!!!

Drumroll please........

And the winner of the crowned bird calendar is.....Aimee. Thank you to everyone who let me be privy to their desires for the upcoming year. With every resolution I read, I felt a little more guilty for not having one of my own. But that would mean admitting that I have room for improvement :) Truth be known - I am toying with a resolution: Finding more time for fun in my life. That usually takes the back-burner with me. So again, Thank You to everyone ~ but I think Aimee kind of nailed it (no pun intended). I do love giveaways and plan on doing many more - so stick around - and channel your dark side.

Silver Sunday is tomorrow - can't wait to see all the tarnished lovelies. Thank you Denise for helping me figure out how to grab that friggin' button :)

Jump into January Giveaway!!!

I will not glide into 2010 quietly ~ I am going to charge in like the bull I am. So lets kick it off with a fun giveaway: Since it is January and the beginning of a new year, I think this fantabulous metal calendar is an appropriate item. I think the greatest things about this calendar is that you can put all your fun magnets, etc. on it.

I just added a ton of new items to FrenchBleuVintage today, including these calendars. Please feel free to jump on over there and let me know what you think.

Okay, so here's the skinny ~ simply tell me your New Years Resolution and this Saturday I will pick the resolution that appeals to me the most. Now this isn't as easy as it sounds. Most of you don't really know me, but I'll give you a hint, I'm not into the newest exercise regime or any of the usual things that people give up or get into in January. I'm a tad mischievous and full of dark humor and usually the one who tells you to "go ahead, eat it, drink it, wear it, buy it, do it". So with that in mind, tell me what you really want to achieve in 2010. Thanks for playing and Good Luck.
