Lots to do.....

This is where I hide my stash of Hershey Kisses
And I'd better start in the dining room. Since deciding that we will play host to about 15 this Thanksgiving and Im pretty sure we're going to need the table and chairs, I should really try and clear a path. Like many of you, my dining room serves a multitude of purposes for me. Its mostly my packaging area for getting my orders out. On a good day, when the table is clear, it can seat 10. Therefore, its very enticing to bring in any new found treasure, lay them out, clean or repair them and photograph them right there. And yes, sometimes items manage to hang out there for a few days (much to the dislike of Mr. Grumpy Vintage:)

So tonight I started clearing out the room and putting items in their proper place ~ when low and behold ~ lots of white stuff to clean in here. The obvious choice for a White Wednesday post as long as Im cleaning it anyway, right.
I bought this cute little desk at a fundraising tag sale 2 months ago for $20. It has been shoved in the front foyer because I couldn't figure out where to put it. I didn't want it in the formal living room - but I did anyway, and love it. It really breaks up all the shiny dark mahogany. I was actually going to sand and re-paint. Nope - love it just the way it is now (or maybe Im just lazy)

My dining room hutch is filled with lots of lovely white ironstone platters, pitchers and bowls ~ that all needed a thorough cleaning ~ why do I not lean towards the "less is more" style? Well, its done now and looks decent, except for the burn ring under my favorite Paris tea set (which I will just move the teapot on top of).
I feel better now. The dining room is spotless, my items are all put away in the storage room, and Mr. Grumpy Vintage has his table back.

  1. I love hosting thanksgiving - usually I have people everywhere - it kinda sprawls out into every room. Love the white desk just the way it is!

  2. My dining room and table are my places to stash the incoming stuff, too! It frustrates me at times but it is the room with the best lighting for picture taking. And well, I'll just have to box it all up for Thanksgiving and then repeat the whole process again!

  3. This sounds real familiar!!! Everything is going to be beautiful, I'm sure.
I can't believe you got that adorable desk for $20.00!

  4. I just found your blog and I've been having a great time reading several of your posts. I can't believe you found that desk for $20!!! Now that's a great find!
It was fun reading this post because just a couple of days ago I posted about my "catch-all" table. So happy to have found your blog.

  5. Your post is too cute! My dining table gets used for so much stuff other than dining too~ The desk is adorable and what a great price you got it for!! :)

  6. Your Thanksgiving will no doubt be wonderful and I am sure with those pretty dishes it will be beautiful as well! Love that little desk...what a bargain!

  7. Hello
It always feels so good to get everything organized and cleaned. I will be having all my brood over this year also and we count around 20. I am working on the house this week also, especially with this wonderful weather! 70s here in Chicago
    Many Blessings

  8. I know what you mean by dining room table-and it's my whole dining room-love the little jar for your stash of hersey kisses!

  9. Hi it all! 15 for dinner...yikes!

  10. I try really hard not to have my dining room as the dumping ground, this is why my studio looks like it does right now. Where is my work table???
    Have a great holiday celebration!

  11. I have to declutter mine too, every few weeks. Things DO tend to congregate there!! Too many pretties and not enough space...or maybe I'm just a clutter bug!

  12. I know what you mean and that is why we are eating at my BIL's house. The white desk is fab just as is. ♥O

  13. Thanksgiving is my favorite holiday! I can not believe you got that desk for 20 dollars! I love it!
    Have a pretty day!

  14. Thanks for sharing your whites! Love the little desk find and all your Paris inspired pieces. ~ Sarah
